vintage sewing machine by martin decker mannheim
|on this one day i drove back home from work and saw these two grey herons bathing in the creek i have seen so after from the ring road. i took the next exit, parked the car, grabbed the camera and starting walking to the place i have seen from the road where the herons were bathing. unfortunately, i was to loud and indescreet when i approached, so the grey herons escaped.
on the walk back to the car i passed a construction site and found an old sewing machine in the courtyard of the building. i took some pictures of it when a man working on that house called and asked what i was doing. i explained myself and told him that i was shooting the sewing machine, because i love these vintage things. he came over to have a little chat. before we said goodbye he asked whether i wanted to have the sewing machine. i answered quickly: “sure – thanks a lot”. it was the sewing machine of the former owner of the house, who died.
